Great! I haven't done either elite mission. I'm looking forward to getting my feet wet, so to speak. Guess I'd better go cap echo then, since I don't think arcane echo is all that great.
To those of you experienced at elite missions, please give us noobs a helping hand. You might be surprised and find some versatile, adaptable people. Or at least, people who will listen to what you tell them. (like me)

I'm not overly excited, since you can get into either of them at almost any given time . But still, double rare drops and all that, probably will result in a temperary drop in prices for zodiac items.

Does this mean Urgoz/Kanaxi will be dropping 6 items now? Or does it simply mean a better chance to obtain yellows?
Thanks

I think its kinda normal that those who play more tend to have better stuff then people just playing a few hours a week. Heck, i don't even understand how you can say that. When you work half as much time as your collegue, do you expect to make as much money as him or drive the same car as him? I don't think so right?
It's the same ingame, and you should actually consider yourself lucky that all the expensive things in this game have a less expensive alternative. The only "advantage" people who play and farm a lot have, is that their pixels look better then those of people who dont play as much.
I'm sorry for my rant, just had to react on that post.
Back on topic now
I think the fact the elite missions will become more crowded is a good thing, as there are almost never any people arround to form a group, let alone a group that can actually finnish the mission. This will make a nice change i hope.
The double rare loot drops on the other hand are yet another way of ruining the allready poor economy in this game.
So maybe the next step could be to drop ecto's in pre searing so that everybody has a chance to have a FoW armor, after all its not fair that only people who have spent so much time farming get the privilege of wearing such an armor right.
ps. one paragraph contains a tad of sarcasm

Well what about managing directors and mangers? they do less work then the people that actually make money for the company ie the workers in a warehouse for example but still earn lots more money
Everyone is entitled to their opinion though and maybe like life, the game is slightly unfair in this aspect.
I agree there is a poor economy in this game which is caused by farmers in my opinion, i have taken 4 characters through both GW games and 1 through just factions and do you know how many greens dropped for me? Zero lol
In fact i can only ever remember one instance of a green item dropping in just nomal everyday play going through missions with a pug.
Does that sound fair? is the casual gamer even getting a chance of getting a good green item?

I'd like to suggest something controversial.....
Maybe in the long run this will cause the prices of elite greens from these areas to go up
Let me explain
You'll have groups of 12 level 17 assassins
You'll have ineffective wammos
etc
Those who have the experience are not going to join PUGs that are mostly inexperienced. I suspect you will get the same number of groups actually getting to the end and the greens but a lot more groups not getting past the first couple of parts.
These players will the realise how hard it is to get greens and be willing to pay more for them.
I wouldn't say the same for the rare golds though as experienced farming groups will be storming the missions , raiding chests and getting 2x as much rare loot to sell
but they will still only get 3 greens if they fight to the end (will be more effecient for them to just do chests and increased monster drops)
I'm keeping my perfect Zodiac Hammer and Kanaxai's Mallet. I don't play to have a large pile of gold. I play to have have fun and these 2 items remind me of a very good PUG that stuck together and finnished it together

you got a point there, i have only had my first green drop a few weeks ago as well. But then, i havent been trying to get any neither.
But thats what i meant. you can remake any green in the game with a collector weapon + weapon mods, and ranted, some may become expensive, others wont be quite near as expensive as the green.
I do think its fair this way, people who actually take their time to farm the green, they deserve it. If it would drop anytime a boss got killed the economy would be even further down the drain.
But anyway, i shouldnt have posted in this thread, its not where this kind of discussion belongs.

Oh - one more thing. I'll be avoiding the elite missions this weekend (my guild never has enough people in the right place at the right time to do these as a guild)
The 2x chance of getting a rare drop is tempting but the 10x chance of getting a PUG that doesn't work together or moans or doesn't listen or has quiters just isn't worth it.
Good luck to those who do try the elite missions for the first time
And to those who do and then stick with it after the weekend and learn how to do these missions and the teamwork invloved I hope you'll add to the numbers of players doing these missions regularly.
PS. Although I play as a warrior I only take a necro or monk on these missions.
I'd just like to give my respect to the warriors who do these missions well. Their's is a difficult role and they are not the sterotype wammo , too much agro pullers
(of course everyone has their job to do but I know my warrior skills are just not up to this)

and this will give MORE players the chance to become "experienced" in those areas. cause ahole players always bitch and moan when you are not "experienced" there. I have 2 mil xp on my main warrior and the guy tuned noob cause it was my first time. Big thanks Anet.

Because you can't force henchmen to go into the other three gates? They don't know how.

I think this will be good, most PUG's don't stick together, it will be harder for us people who use them. And I haven't ever ran one of these missions and i'm looking for a chance to prove myself.
Any advice from experienced would be extremly helpful, for whatever profession.....And thank you ahead of time

Now that is just plain funny.
You may want to make a mule to carry all the zodiac staffs and straw effigys you'll be picking up on your way to becoming Bill Gates....
The truly good drops are few and far between, even doubled, until you make it to the end and kill Urgoz/Kanaxi for a chance at one of their goodies. I'd love to say a 1 in 12 chance, but I don't think I've ever finished with a full group. (not that that's a bad thing).
Its great to offer this via Kaineng actually, kind of a litmus test IMO.
As far as PUGs go, wouldn't it be great to have titles for Elite Boss kills so you could select a group with some certainty of skill and even moreso commitment ?
Slayer of Urgoz/Kanaxi - 1 kill
Destroyer - 5 kills
Decimator - 10 kills
Lord - 25 kills (max title)

you guys think that having more rares items in circulation will affect the price of ecto? if so which way more expensive or less?
I'm trying to save for an Obsidian chest piece for my ranger, and i dont want to waste money if i dont have to

Cap - As far as Obsid armor goes, either get everything all at once, or get nothing. Peicemeal Obsid looks like you are poor and trying to be rich. (Sorry, but it's true.)
Fem Tarror - Echo is crap. Useless waste of an elite skill slot, since you asked. Elemental + Fire attunement far outweighs the energy savings you will EVER get by using echo. And with Double attunements, you can cast pretty much infinately (except in enchant removal room, but that is the easiest room to beat).
The build I run is:
Incend Bonds
Fireball
Rot Invoc
Archane Echo
MS
Ele Attune {e}
Fire Attune
(Optional - I use Aura of Rest as a covering enchant for my Attunements)
DO NOT BRING FIRESTORM OR ANY OTHER AOE SKILL THAT DOES "DAMAGE PER SECOND" EVER IN THE GAME EVER.

I really don't understand why Anet will do this event... If you really wanted to you can go to the deep or urgoz for free. The double gold drops will make the value of current items go down. This is the first Event that I am NOT looking forward to.
